DwarfElephant is an open-source software for using the reduced basis method.

The package is a MOOSE application and uses for the reduced basis calculations the rbOOmit package provided by libMesh.

The reduced basis method, is a model order reduction technique. It aims at signicantly reducing the spatial and temporal degrees of freedom of, for instance, finite element problems. This yields extremly fast forward simulations, which can be in turn used in inversive processes.

We are using the software in a geoscientific context. However, the code is not specifically designed for geoscientific problems and can be hence used for other elliptic or parabolic problems that can be described by partial differential equations.
